Category II

Anyone familiar with the classic Phil Jupitus routine will know exactly what I mean when I say that, settling down to bed last night, I suddenly recoiled and exclaimed "Whoa!" as I watched a Category II crawl adeptly and quickly over my pillows. I am not arachnophobic really, but even I was a bit disturbed/freaked out by the implications. I didn't want to hurt it, but I didn't want to lose it either as then there would be a one-and-a-half-inch-in-diameter spider crawling around my bed as I attempted sleep.

So I picked it up. My intention was to go downstairs and put it outside or something but it was so big and strong that I was afraid I'd lose hold of it and it would go crawling up my arm. So, I'm afraid, I squashed it in my fist. I'm not proud of myself but I console myself with the thought that at least Laura won't have to risk being disturbed by it now.
